Course Name: Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) Including Working at Height
Duration: 1 Full Day (Combined with Working at Height)
Course Aim: This course is designed to equip learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to operate Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs) safely and in compliance with manufacturer’s guidelines and industry best practices.
Course Content:
- Legislation and MEWP Use: Understanding the legal framework and regulations governing the use of MEWPs.
- MEWP Types and Specifications: Overview of the basic types and specifications of MEWPs.
- Identifying Hazards: Recognising and mitigating hazards associated with MEWP use.
- MEWP Accident Analysis: Examining past incidents to enhance safety awareness and prevention strategies.
- Daily Pre-use Checks and Maintenance: Conducting essential checks and routine maintenance to ensure MEWP safety and functionality.
- Safety Precautions: Implementing safety measures while operating MEWPs.
- MEWP Positioning: Techniques for correctly positioning MEWPs for various tasks.
- Safe Operation: Guidelines for safely raising and lowering MEWPs.
- Emergency Procedures: Preparedness and response for emergency situations while operating MEWPs.
- Evaluating Ground Conditions: Assessing ground conditions to ensure safe MEWP operation.
- Theory & Practical Assessment: Comprehensive evaluation of theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Course Aim: This course is specifically designed to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of the hazards and risks associated with working at height. It aims to instil an appreciation of the dangers involved and impart practical knowledge and strategies to reduce the risk of accidents.

- Understanding Working at Heights: An overview of what constitutes working at height and the associated risks.
- Cultivating Safe Attitudes: Emphasizing the importance of safety mindset when working at height.
- Best Practices for Working on Flat Roofs: Guidelines and safety measures for working safely on flat roofs.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Detailed instruction on the selection, use, and maintenance of PPE for working at height.
- Safe Use of Ladders: Training on the correct and safe use of ladders, including setup, stability, and user safety.
- Scaffolding Safety: Understanding the safe erection, use, and dismantling of scaffolding.
- Fall Arrest Equipment: Comprehensive knowledge on various fall arrest systems and their proper usage.
- Relevant Legislation: A review of the laws and regulations governing work at height to ensure compliance and safety.
Certification:
Upon successful completion, participants will receive an RTITB or EDS certificate, valid for 3 years, certifying their competency in the safe operation of MEWPs and WAH.
